Building an investment management team from the ground up

Driven by the decision to internalise the investment management team, a redesign of the current investment operating model was required. 1886 partnered with this Australian based industry superannuation fund, with $AUD70b fund under management, to establish and deliver an investment transformation project focused on a redesign of how the team was structured and organised.

THE CHALLENGE
After the Board decided to internalise the investment management team, there was a business need for the client to redesign its investment operating model. In order to manage the change effectively, the client required a current state assessment, future state design and implementation of key investment solutions, which included a redesign of how the team was structured and organised.
THE PROJECT
Partnering with the client, 1886 established the Investment Transformation Program. A contemporary and high-performing investment function within the client’s organisation responsible for driving improved investment performance, timely investment analytics, reporting and regulatory compliance and governance.

The client was empowered and enabled to evolve legacy investment processes and implement new ones that supported future business objectives and were purpose-built for the newly structured team.
